Before you charge out into the great weekend unknown, ask yourself this simple question: Am I going to a small yet mighty new hotel called Mi Amor that just opened in the Caribbean paradise of Tulum, Mexico? If you answered yes, you’re free to go. If you answered no, we got here just in time. Also, check this out. Also, be advised... There are 17 rooms here. Which (carry the 2...) makes it small. But in situations like these, small is good. Placing two bronzed bodies next to each other on a private deck overlooking the clear blue sea is good. Fully stocked minibars and outdoor jetted tubs are good. Endless themes are good. The restaurant is called Unico, and it’s important. Partly because an alum of NYC’s Gramercy Tavern and Craft is in the kitchen, mostly because he’ll be making you lobster ravioli and grilled octopus with jalapeño-and-mint gremolata as you breathe in all the open-air majesty. The bar’s important, too. That’s where they keep the champagne cocktails with names like Bonnie & Clyde and Rhett & Scarlett. They have champagne in them, you see. And they’re named after people who liked each other. And this hotel is dropping some serious hints about interpersonal relations. |
