When you want someone to know music, you take them to an opera. And when you want someone to know true happiness—and a lot of good wine—you take them to Leeu Estates. About that last one: it's a new South African hotel with 17 rooms, suites and cottages on a working vineyard that's sandwiched between a mountainside and a river, booking now just outside of Franschhoek. First things first: this place is the home of Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines. So it makes sense that there'd be an on-site Wine Studio where you can have tastings, host a catered party or simply meet with the winemakers to pick their beautiful brains. Speaking of: time for this eye-pleasing slideshow. And as for the rest of it, you can stay in the 19th-century Manor House or any of the other outfits spread across the property. You'll also find a spa with his-and-hers saunas, a heated infinity swimming pool and the Reading Room. Go there when you need a wood-burning fireplace, cocktails, a book on Nelson Mandela and games like Scrabble and Monopoly. You call the shoe. | | | | | | | | | | |
