Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne: three places that sound pretty great right about now. Naturally, if you're headed that way, you'll want to fly out on a plane with a couple of boutique bars, an award-winning in-flight entertainment system and the proper mood lighting. Which pretty much leaves Virgin Australia.

Today, a quick history of brewing:

1040: In Freising, a few forward-thinking Bavarians open what's now the world's oldest brewery. Oktober is never the same.

1765: The steam engine is invented. This apparently impacts making beer.

1969: Milwaukee, meet your hometown Brewers.

2010: The brewery spa becomes a thing.

2012: The brewery spa gets a hotel to go with it...

Feast your eyes on Zurich's new B2 Boutique Hotel + Spa Hürlimann-Areal, a handsome hotel/spa in a centuries-old brewery, accepting reservations now for its March 1 debut.

First things first: no beer is brewed on the premises. Instead, think of the Hürlimann Brewery as Switzerland's Anheuser-Busch: a family-owned operation from the mid-19th century that was eventually bought out by some foreigners. And now, they've converted their barrel-filling room into an 11,000-square-foot spa... with a hotel attached.

Here, you'll soak in wooden hot tubs modeled after beer vats and swim in a labyrinthine cathedral of emerald thermal baths. And if you book the former cold store room (hint: book the former cold store room), you'll have private elevator access to the rooftop pool overlooking Zurich.

Then, after a customary Irish-Roman milk massage by candlelight, you'll thumb through first editions in the lobby library. Then maybe kick your feet up by the fireplace with a plate of Swiss tapas from the 24-hour wine bar.

We'll assume they also serve beer.
