Your warm-weather checklist includes:

—Getting more exercise.

—Grilling copious meats on a blazing-hot grill.

—Attending as many outdoor concerts as humanly possible.

—Achieving legendary status on the dance floor of every wedding you attend.

—Keeping your cool while doing all of the above.

Here to help you with that last part: your old friend cotton.

You see, there's a reason why you keep going back to your favorite T-shirt, jeans and/or seersucker suit, and that reason is the material that each is made of. It's a fabric that allows you to feel comfortable and cool, no matter where you find yourself this summer (translation: everywhere).

And no matter how technologically advanced those newfangled, so-called "moisture-wicking" clothes get, none will offer the supreme breathability and comfort of the natural goodness of cotton.

For unlike polyester and other synthetic fabrics, cotton washes clean and doesn't retain odors. Meaning that sweat from your morning run isn't going to crop up unexpectedly on your evening date.

So if you find yourself adding new pieces to your summer wardrobe, be sure to look for "100% Cotton" on the label. (Cotton-rich—which is 90% or higher for jeans, 60% higher on other clothes—will also do).

Either way, your dance partners will thank you.
