Heads up: there’s going to be a whole lot of standing around on your next vacation.

But it’s okay.

Because you’ll be standing around on a paddleboard in Botswana.

Gain perspective with A Paddle-Boarding and Heli-Safari Through the Okavango Delta, a trip where you safari by paddleboard and helicopter around and you probably already surmised that from the name, now booking for a harrowing date of your choosing.

If you’ve never been on a stand-up paddleboard before, that’s fine. First, get familiar with this slideshow. Then, know that they’ll take a couple days to teach you the techniques from a waterfront Cape Town hotel. Enjoy that. But also, pay attention.

Because from there, it’s a short flight and 4x4 safari to your base camp in the Okavango Delta. That’s where you’ll spend a few days SUPing through the channels with local Mokoro guides and a night camping on a deserted island. A guide will cook a South African–style braai dinner (it’s like barbecue) for you there. Thank you, kind guide.

Oh, and don’t forget the part at the end where you fly directly over a bunch of wildlife in a doorless helicopter.

It’s not horrifying if it’s great.
