We Sent Our Northeastern Correspondent to the Berkshires to Find Out | |  | | | | | | | Something weird happens in the face of those in the know at Kripalu—a non-profit center for yoga and health in the Berkshires—when you ask them about forest bathing.
There's a wince, then an almost pitying, uncomfortable smile, a smile not unlike the one the doctor gave me once when I painstakingly tried to show her, anxiety-ridden Jew that I am (why else did I respond to a pitch about forest bathing?), the slight discoloration on my bottom lip. It's a muddled "Yeah…" that translates to: "I guess it might exist, but it's also kind of made up."
